History: Satoru was born into a middle class family of one older sister and a single father; both very religious Christians. His mother died during his birth and his father blamed him for her death. As a result, Satoru was forced to live in the basement where his sister would come down daily and give him food. The basement consisted of a bunk bed, concrete floor, and a small bathroom with only a shower and toilet. No one from the outside of the house knew he existed because there was no pictures of him that hung on the walls. Satoru would be severely beaten unconscious and put back into the basement if he succeeded in getting out; so he stopped trying pretty early. This was how he learned to take care of himself. His sister was forced to potty train him, teach him how to walk, and teach him how to take care of himself by showering and washing. After it became apparent that he learned these things, his sister left him alone but to bring him his daily food. When school started and Satoru attended the very first day, he stabbed the teacher with a pencil because she touched him on the shoulder to get his attention from the window he had been staring out. At this time, the story of how Satoru was raised had been discovered and he was put into a foster home and from there adopted. There, he first learned how to communicate with other people; his sister never taught him how to talk. In that adopted family, two years in, he gained two other adopted brothers, Akinari and Naohiro, both which didn't understand his defensive life in the beginning. Later they became good brothers towards him and they helped calm down his violent tendencies and into a much more healthy person. To look at him and see the way he acts, one wouldn't think he had a life like that.
