Name:
Gideon
Age:
Unknown, but judging from his demeanour, he seems to be in his mid-twenties.
Picture:
(Coming soon)
Height:
5’10’’
Appearance:
Even though Gideon actually isn’t short, he appears to be, which is mostly due to his slender physique and his habit of hunching his back in order to not be noticed by people. Even though his experience and behaviour tell otherwise, he could easily be mistaken for a teenager if one does not talk to him – his shoulders are narrow and his features delicate, thereby creating the effect of him looking younger than he actually is. Combined with his pale complexion and pained expression, it makes him look sickish and weak – a fallacy that can be fatal, since Gideon can be pretty determined once he makes up his mind about something. His eyes are a light, greyish green, framed by surprisingly dark lashes and eyebrows, whereas is hair is a sandy colour, ranging between dark blond and light brown, depending on how much time he spends in the sun. Gideon usually covers up his body as much as he can, because he does not feel comfortable showing off his tattoos. That’s why he always wears long sleeves, even in summer, and most of the time even turtlenecks or scarves to hide them completely. He doesn’t really prefer a specific colour, so the fact that most of his clothes are grey or blue is merely a coincidence – he chooses his clothes solely by comfort and skin coverage. When sent to his villain tasks, Gideon doesn’t bother putting on a specific outfit; he just wears a black venetian mask, covering the upper half of his face, which, combined with his powers, quickly earned him the nickname ‘Obsidian’.
Personality:
Gideon doesn’t like to be at the centre of attention; he is rather shy, silent and a bit awkward around people. He gets nervous and embarrassed easily and tries to conceal this fact by smiling or making jokes. He’s very self-conscious and worries about other people’s opinions a lot, which is why he always tries to please those around him. However, his amnesia and the influence of his new master have changed him a great deal; his longing for an identity and need for closure have made him impressionable and easy to manipulate, which encouraged the Puppetmaster to break him mentally, so that Gideon, who’s basically a nice guy, is now torn between his morals and the need to fulfil the wishes of his master. This inner battle has made him cold and reclusive, and even though he secretly wishes to be caught and for everything to end, he’s finally accepted his role and does everything his ‘father’ tells him to.
Family:
Gideon’s real family is unknown, but currently, he believes the villain ‘Puppetmaster’ to be his father.
Race:
Human. Probably.
Motives:
More than anything else, Gideon wants to find out who he really is. Even though the Puppetmaster provided him with an identity, he still struggles with being a ‘bad’ guy. Gideon is torn between the loyalty towards his master, and the wish for all of this to end. In an ideal world, he wishes to get rid of his tattoos and start a life somewhere else.
History:
Two years ago, Gideon woke up in a car wreck, with no recollection of how he got there or who he was. Since then, he wandered around trying to find out something about his identity, with nothing to go by but his first name, which he found on a nametag inside his jacket. One day, when he was sitting on a bench in the local park, he was addressed by a man in a wheelchair claiming to be his father. At first, Gideon was suspicious, but after the man showed him pictures and told him about events from his childhood he didn’t remember but sounded legit, he finally moved in with him. But when Gideon figured out that his father was a super villain who wanted him to become his apprentice, he tried to withdraw himself from his influence, but found himself unable to do so. This is a problem he still struggles with to this day.
Powers:
Gideon doesn’t possess any attacking power – his powers are defensive only. His whole body is covered in tattoos that protect him from any damage inflicted on him which makes him nearly invincible; it’s impossible to cut, burn, shoot, break, bruise or stab him. When anyone tries to hurt him, his normally bluish black tattoos start to glow an angry red, which for Gideon, is rather uncomfortable, because it feels like they’re burning his skin. Gideon is neither super strong nor super fast, so in order to attack, he uses the weapons the Puppetmaster provides him with.
The Puppetmaster:
The Puppetmaster is an old super villain, who was once defeated (but not killed) by Harbinger. As consequence, he lost all feeling in his legs and was tied to a wheelchair. The Puppetmaster doesn’t possess any superpower; he’s just an expert in making weapons and all sorts of handy toys. His trademark (that earned him his nickname) is that he never commits any crimes himself – he makes model citizens do it, by threatening to kill their families and thereby forcing the police to shoot the ‘good’ people. In Gideon, he found the perfect apprentice – totally dependant on him, invincible, and quick to learn.
