Height: 5'9"
Appearance: Human red hair and light brown eyes. Generally wears a simple country tunic, kilt, and belt with a pair of simple thick soled leather shoes for the rough forested terrain around his home. Can take on the general look of a fire sprite, that of a human coated by small arcs of flame and wisps of smoke, but only for about an hour at a time with the exception of several days prior to and after his birthday, At that time he will have the look of a fire sprite whether he wishes it or not.
Personality: Somewhat quiet and seemingly uncaring about others apart from what they might have to offer in trade of service or goods. Prefers living alone and has not sought out any kind of companionship since his father died when he was 13 years old. Only visits the town near his home to trade firewood, mushrooms, and other items gathered near his home for what he needs. Is highly restrained until extremely angered. On a side note, his fire sprite form is simply angry, domineering, and concerned only with his own benefit and will frequently lash out impulsively.
Family: Father deceased, mother unknown, left soon after his birth.
Race: Human primarily, fourth generation flame sprite on mother's side.
Motives: Normally, living quietly out of the way to not intrude upon others or let his temper get out of hand. For his sprite form, whatever he pleases deep in his mind.
History: The product of one man's desire to gain some wealth and influence through the local lord of his small village, Zalim was the product of a forced marriage between his father an a woman known to have some kind of deep hidden power. His mother fled soon after his birth leaving him with a very disappointed father when he saw that Zalim grew as a normal child and had no greater ability to offer up to the lord in exchange for land or wealth. Beyond that, his father was in fact known as apt to drink too much start fights with alcohol strengthend delusions of future orders he would give people in the village. He was thusly shunned from the village along with his son.
Zalim and his father ended up forced to live in a small cottage inside the nearby forest out of sight and mind of the village except for when they wanted to do commerce. The child was often forced to do work, and the only pity he received was an occasional bit of food from people in the village who took pity on his situation.
One particularly harsh winter around the age of thirteen, Zalim's skin grew hot, and his body trembled and ached. His father, only caring about him as something to use, left him to either live or die on his own as he sat less than five paces away. The result was that his son, his other side having taken root, strangled the man while scorching his skin, mouth, and throat with flame to make sure the job was done. His father was then thrown out of the small cabin leaving Zalim alone though in many ways far better off. The following spring, his father's body was buried in the village cemetery in an unmarked pauper's grave.
From that point on, Zalim seemed much healthier and less fearful of everything, though he still kept a distance from the village, even as he grew into a fine young man. He preferred the solitude for a number of reasons.
Powers: That of an ordinary human with regular exercise and a bit of a wider range of temperature tolerances for the most part. His sprite form is a bit stronger than a human, has a good deal of control over flame, and does not need to eat or drink.
Other: Avoids drinking large quantities of alcohol because it bring out the mental other side of him when he's human. Birthday is sometime in the middle of the coldest part of winter.
