KNIGHTHOOD AND THE WAR CHARACTERS*Profiles are for Knighthood mostly, which takes place over three years BEFORE "The War" Name: Derek of Hayshire Age: 15 Picture:  Height: 5'11" Appearance: Ginger colored hair, blue-hazel eyes and loads of freckles all over his skin. He's got a determined look about him. Personality: he is ready and willing to prove that he has what it takes to become a knight. He's very headstrong and even though he gets beat in a lot of the combat, he's determined to prove himself. He's very smart scholarly-wise, and aces most of his subjects with relative ease, in contrast with most of his peers. Family: His father died in service to the king, and he hopes to be as brave as his father was in battle. His mother and his guardian are in charge of running Hayshire until a time when he can manage it, namely after his Knight's ordeal. Race: Human Motives: To become a knight of the realm. History: His father died ending a war between the Sariques and his own kingdom. He was five when his father died for his country, and his mother and guardian raised him to be a noble warrior like his father. However, he never took any interest in the girls at court, and really didn't seem to be at all interested in girls of any type. He started thinking that he was different at age 14, just after he had been made a squire. He thought that men were more attractive than girls, but knew this wasn't normal and he hides his feelings even today. He knows that if he was singled out for feeling this way, that things would get ugly, and fast. Powers: He's incredibly smart, and though he's a bit slow on his feet, his battle plans and understanding of different cultures from pursuing the subjects have lead him to be quite the admirable leader one day. Other: But sometimes he lets feelings overcome his rationality. Squire to the Captain of the "Knight's Own". Name: Duke Morgan of Donton Age: 37 Picture:  Height: 5'10" Appearance: Redish-gold locks of curly hair and blue eyes. He alwyas keeps himself clean shaven unless he goes away to battle or other such an errand. He holds himself like nobility and is always gracious with his actions. He looks a bit like his sister did before she fell ill, though she had a bit darker hair than he. Personality: Extremely charming and polite. He is well mannered and loved by most who know him. He is brave and ambitious as well as good looking. He is very manipulative though, and can easily talk his way out of things. His hidden personality is ruthless, unmericful, and power-hungry. Family: King Thoromire's Queen's younger brother. The princes and Princess are his nephews and niece. The King, himself, is his brother-in-law. Race: Human/Sorcerer Motives: Secretly wants the throne. History: He grew up with his sister and family in Donton. They were a noble family, and when the king picked his beautiful sister to be his queen. The family was elated, and none more so than the duke. If he could somehow find a way to get the throne, he could have all the power he wanted. Unfortunately, in the first years of their marriage they had three healthy children. The Duke had actually magicall poisoned his sister and made her decay ever so slowly to make it look natural, but no one would suspect the duke of killing his sister because of his grief and well acted out depression after her death. He has watched the children of his sister grow up, watching for the Gift in them. He picked the heir to the throne as his squire for a very specific reason, to keep a closer eye on him. Powers: In his family line there is a line of sorcery; not witchcraft, but often mistaken for it. He can control pure magic, unlike witches who use herbal magic and magic from the earth. His family line had used to be from the East, in the desert where sorcery is common, but it was long ago when that had happened. He has suspected that his sister's children may have "The Gift", but none of them has shown it yet, and they have certainly not been taught of it because of their father's fear of magic. Besides that, he's excellent with a sword, good at hand-to-hand combat, but his archery skills are a bit lacking since he never really paid any attention to the skill. Other: His Squire is Prince Theomire. Straight. Name: Gareth of Nawson ("The King's Champion") Age: 28 Picture:  Height: 5'7" Appearance: He's got long brown-red hair and dark mysterious eyes. He wears simple tunics around the castle and always carries his sword, Hrunting, by his side. Outside of the castle and at social gatherings he wears a dark blue tunic with silver linging and designs on it with black breeches. He also usually ties his bangs back in these events. Personality: He is all about honour. The code of Chivalry is his life and he wouldn't cross it. He dislikes sorcery and witchcraft. He is very polite with the ladies of court, but doesn't seem to be much more than polite and a good friend to many of the ladies at court. They respect him and somewhat drool over him, but he doesn't seem to want marriage or even to keep women as anything more than pleasant company. He is undyingly loyal to the King and the Royal Family, and would die for them in a heartbeat. He's also very humble and generous. Family: His father is the Thane of the City of Nawson. His mother is with him there. They occassionally visit court with his sister. Race: Human Motives: To serve the Royal family and maybe even die defending them. History: He has lived most of his life in the palace, though he does occassionally go on outings to see his family or resolve problems in the land, acting as the King's Sword Arm when necessary. When King Thoromire was coronated, he chose Gareth as his Champion. Gareth had been one of his squires, and works to serve the king even now. He would do anything the king asked of him. Powers: Despite his short stature, he's actually quite quick on his feet, which makes up for his lack of height in most situations. He is a Master Swordsman, good with a bow, and quite good at wrestling as well. He serves as a teacher during peace times to the pages and Squires. as dark as I'd like)Height: 6'1" Appearance: Rust colored hair that has darkened as he aged. He used to have light red hair, but it's starting to go to a more dark brown shade (This actually happens, my brother and cousins are proof). He has blue-green eyes like his father's, but his are a bit lighter. Personality: He's quite noble and chivalrous, and he always tries to be even tempered. He's logical like his father, but he's a bit more caring and sometimes lets his emotions get the best of him when it concerns things that upset him. He's got a bit of his father's temper. He's protective over his sister, though and would do almost anything for her. He assumes his brother can take care of himself. Family: Mother died, Father is King Thoromire. He has a brother and a sister. His uncle is the Duke of Donton (mother's brother). Race: Human Motives: For his father to be proud of him and to be a great king someday. History: Theo's mother, the queen, had died when he was a young boy, and he only remembers that she smelt of lilacs and lavender. He grew up with an education, and joined the ranks of pages when he was ten. He did his studies with his other noble friends and tries not to think himself too self-important. He graduated from being a page when he was fourteen, and his uncle, the Duke of Donton picked him for his squire. Powers: Theo is exceptional with a sword, if mediocre with a bow. He's average at his studies, but he's good at what his father teaches him about being king one day. He's also quite the charmer at court. Other: He is a squire to his uncle, the Duke of Donton. Straight. Name: Timothy (Tim) of Undlau Age: 14 Picture: {He's the one of the right} Height: 5'7" Appearance: Short black hair and piercing blue eyes. He has a few small scars on his arms and sides from a few close calls during sword matches without a knight present to be the referee. Personality: He's very outgoing, and likes to be the center of attention. He's a real ladies man, even at his young age, and even steals some of the girls his brother is interested in. He's a bit shallow, though, and sometimes he can get overconfident. He has a large ego when it comes to things he's good at. Family: Mattias is his identical twin. His mother died giving birth to the both of them, and his father is Lord Timothy of Undlau. Race: Human Motives: To become a knight and go to explore unknown lands. History: He grew up without a mother, but always with his brother by his side. His father took a great interest in their schooling, and is thus far disappointed with how Timothy is doing in his lessons. He just became a squire with his brother, but has always felt a bit sore towards his brother because he is "Father's Favorite". He actually wants to go to battle and see what it's really like. Powers: He is excellent with a sword and has occassionally beat older squires with his skill. Timothy is also very good at wrestling. He, however, lacks skill with a bow and arrow and is moderately bad at his lessons. Other: He is the squire to the "King's Champion". Straight. ~~~ Name: Mattias of Undlau Age: 14 Picture: {He's on the left} Height: 5'6 3/4" Appearance: Short black hair and piercing blue eyes. He has mainly scar-free skin besides scars on his knees from when he was younger. His hands are also very callosed and rough from many hours of practice. Personality: He's much more quiet than his brother. While his brother can fend for himself, Mattias usually stays in the background and tries not to be overly noticed. He's rather shy of praise, but when he gets it, he takes it to heart. He's very gracious and chivalrous. Family: (Young) Timothy is his identical twin. His mother died giving birth to the both of them, and his father is Lord Timothy of Undlau. Race: Human Motives: To serve the king's army one day as part of the "King's Own", the palace guard. History: He grew up without a mother, but always with his brother by his side. His father took a great interest in their schooling, and is thus far content with how Mattias is doing in his lessons. He just became a squire with his brother, but has always felt a bit inferior to his brother because his brother is better at 'everything that matters' than him. He knows his brother doesn't particularly like him at times because Timothy thinks that he is "Father's Favorite". He would rather talk things out than fight. Powers: Mattias is killed with a bow and ranged weapons like the longbow and throwing knives. He doesn't do well in wrestling, though he's not really that bad it. He really isn't good with a sword, though. He's moderately good at his lessons, and is generally a smart boy. Other: He is a squire to one of the "King's Own". Straight. Name: Duke Herod of Vinsburg Age: 34 Picture:  Height: 6'1" Appearance: Dark brown hair and dark blue eyes. The Duke has a very serious air about him and kind of looks like one of the three musketeers (just for a visual). He almost always has a neatly trimmed beard and moustashe. He wears ornate and noble clothes to any event. Personality: He is very manipulative, and can easily talk his way out of or into things. His personality is ruthless, unmericful, egotistical, and abusive. He's not terribly liked at court, but since he is a friend of Duke Morgan's, people tend to respect him a bit more. Family: Somewhat distant cousin to the Royal Family on the King's side. He runs Vinsburg. His first wife died ten years ago. His second wife died five years ago. Race: Human Motives: Wants power, money, and whatever he can get to make himself seem that much more powerful. He does not, however, desire the throne. He would rather let other people do his duties for him and enjoy the pleasures of this life instead. History: He grew up with everything he could ever want and made good friends growing up. Most of his friends are a bit self-centered, but they are good companions because they each help the others get what they want. When his father died, he took over the juristiction of Vinsburg with the King's permission. Powers: He's moderately with a sword, Excellent at hand-to-hand combat, and his archery skills are alright. He isn't very good with horses, however. Other: Bi-curious.
